A Personal Message from Coach Stew
Dear People of Taiwan,
This is a love letter—a love letter born from 25 years of living, learning, and sharing life on this wonderful island. For over a quarter-century, I have watched, listened, and invested my heart into this nation’s most precious resource: its people. From the very beginning, I saw brilliance and potential shining in every classroom, workplace, and conversation. Yet, I also noticed something that didn’t quite add up—a hesitation, a reluctance to engage fully with English. And then I heard it: the laughter.
But this wasn’t the sound of joy or camaraderie; it was the nervous giggle of students laughing at each other’s mistakes. It wasn’t malicious—it was fear. Fear of judgment. Fear of “losing face.” And it stopped progress in its tracks. I asked questions in class, hoping to spark dialogue, but I was met with silence—a silence so loud it filled every corner of the room.
For 25 years, I’ve been asking myself the same question: How can anyone learn if they’re too afraid to try?
Later, when I began working with TOEFL students—ambitious dreamers eager to study abroad—I saw this fear take on a new form. These students weren’t learning English as a tool for connection; they were treating it as a test to be conquered. They memorized phrases, rehearsed answers, and treated English like a formula rather than a language. They passed exams but couldn’t carry a conversation. The system wasn’t setting them up for success—it was setting them up for survival.
That’s when I realized: Taiwan’s English education system isn’t broken because students aren’t working hard enough. It’s broken because the system itself is flawed.
So I set out to fix it. I began experimenting, moving away from rigid instruction to something more natural, intuitive, and empowering. I coached my students to embrace mistakes, to take pride in the effort rather than fear the result. I encouraged them to talk, to play with the language, to practice without perfection. Over time, this approach evolved into Infinity Key—a revolutionary system built on confidence, creativity, and communication.
But Infinity Key wasn’t something I could create alone. That’s where Anna Liang came in. While my instinctive ability to spot obstacles fueled the vision, Anna brought the clarity and structure necessary to make it actionable. Together, we built a system that doesn’t just teach English but transforms the way it’s learned. We replaced fear with confidence, hesitation with fluency, and frustration with joy.
Here’s the truth: Taiwan doesn’t just need a better way to learn English. It needs a paradigm shift. English isn’t a test to pass or a formula to memorize. It’s a living, breathing skill—a gateway to global opportunities that demands practice, patience, and play. Waiting for the system to change won’t work. Change has to start now—with you.
Whether you’re a student, professional, or parent, Infinity Key is your opportunity to rewrite the story of English in Taiwan. Don’t let fear or tradition hold you back any longer. The longer you wait, the more opportunities slip away. It’s time to unlock your potential—and your future.
